This art form is totally new to the South, requiring great patience and skill. Margaret, being a 'Southern Lady' and a Cumming, Georgia resident is just the one to expand this art form and has chosen the name "Southern Screens" to represent this portion of her artistic portfolio. Margaret has already been widely recognized for her work in acrylics, oils, photography, soft sculptue, murals, and interior design A magazine article several years ago was her means of discovering this art form.
Baltimore Screens
...had their origin in 1913 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, as a way to 'advertise' what was sold in the store. Soon it became apparant that the screens also provided a measure of privacy. From the outside, one could see the paintings on the screens but from within, a clear view was available to the outside. Soon everyone wanted them for their homes. They provided a nice decorative picture yet provided a measure of privacy.
